well duhhh!
Chosen Answer:
There are several reasons for floaters. As we get older the jelly like substance in our eye changes and people often develop floaters.
Floaters can also be a symptom of a vitreous detachment or retinal tear or detachment. Laser surgery is done to treat retinal tears and detachments. Laser surgery prevents the tear or detachment from getting worse, but every area that was zapped with the laser will be left with a little scar and not have the parts needed for vision.
Floaters in a vitreous detachment can actually be blood from a vitreous hemorrhage. This is usually treated by a vitrectomy. A vitrectomy removes the jelly like substance and all the floaters.

I think that is what the surgery does.

It’s not that it’s dangerous, it’s just that it really isn’t very effective. The only real solution is a vitrectomy.
